IX BIENNAL XAVIER MISERACHS

“The Dispossessed Path” This exhibition depicts the difficulties that the first waves of Syrian refugees faced when escaping the horror of the war in their country. They left their homeland in the hope of starting a new life in Europe. The report follows thousands of people that travelled from Macedonia to Serbia and Hungry. The latter, however, closed its borders, refused to offer them asylum and forced them to search for a new route that finally took them to Croatia. These are stories of desperate people whose expectations of the ‘good old’ and apparently friendly Europe weren’t fulfilled.

De fronteras internas y externas a colaboraciones, líneas de fuga y perspectivas De 23 a 26 de mayo de 2016 en el Goethe-Institut Barcelona Los medios de comunicación se refieren con frecuencia a los actuales movimientos migratorios usando palabras asociadas comúnmente con catástrofes como «avalancha»(1), «inundación», «ola»(2) o “aluvión”, tratando esta situación como un hecho natural(3). Este uso lingüístico que se le da a la información genera temor entre la opinión pública frente al movimiento de personas que escapan de guerras y pobreza atravesando las fronteras.
